34 - Brain Storm

The term "Brainstorm" first appeared in the 1800s as a medical term for a sudden mental frenzy or emotional outburst, like temporary insanity.

In the 1940s, ad executive Alex Osborn created group idea sessions at BBDO to boost creativity, calling it "think up" before it became "brainstorming" in his 1953 book Applied Imagination.

By the late 1950s, major companies adopted it widely; later studies questioned group effectiveness (I feel you bruhs), leading to solo brainstorming variants.

So iconic is the term, that absolute legend @profrscolyer titled his 2024 bestseller after it.

Given how commonly the term is used these days, there was no way I wasn’t going to include it somewhere in this project.

I created two different pieces (both beautiful) and this is the one I ended up including in the Neurospicy Art collection.

I think it’s absolutely beautiful and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

P.S I like it better as two words.
