93 - So Chill

"So chill," is slang for someone super laid-back, relaxed, or unfazed, and it stems from "chill" which evolved from Old English for literal coldness (like frostbite shivers) to 1970s hip-hop via Sugarhill Gang's 1979 "Rapper’s Delight" ("we'll just leave her alone and just chill out"), exploding in the 1980s as "chill out" for calming down before shortening to "chill" for cool vibes by the 1990s.

In the brain, it signals low amygdala arousal with high parasympathetic vagus nerve tone via deep breaths or social ease, flooding GABA for calm while prefrontal networks handle stress lightly, like cold exposure training resilience.
