63 - String Theory

String theory is a physics idea that says the tiniest bits of the universe aren't point-like particles but super-small, vibrating strings—like tiny guitar strings whose different wiggles make up quarks, electrons, gravity, and everything else, aiming to unite quantum mechanics with Einstein's gravity in extra dimensions (10 or 11 total). It kicked off in 1968 when Gabriele Veneziano found a math formula for strong nuclear forces that fit string vibrations, got reworked in the 1970s by folks like Leonard Susskind after it flopped for particle physics, then exploded in the 1980s with superstring theory fixing glitches like gravity inclusion, leading to two "revolutions" and M-theory in 1995 tying it all together. Still unproven without direct tests, it fuels big dreams of a "theory of everything" but draws flak for being too abstract and uncheckable.

Mostly I’m just pumped that this project gave me the opportunity to bring together a bunch of weird stuff I’ve read about during my time here on earth.
