Toxic thinking refers to habitual negative mental patterns—like all-or-nothing views ("I'm a total failure if I mess up once"), catastrophizing ("This small mistake means disaster"), or mental filtering (focusing only on bad stuff while ignoring the good)—that distort reality, ramp up stress, and wreck mood, relationships, or self-esteem. These brain shortcuts, rooted in cognitive distortions from CBT psychology, feel true in the moment but stem from anxiety or past habits, often spiraling into depression or constant worry if unchecked. Spotting and challenging them with facts—like "What evidence supports this?"—helps rewire for balanced thoughts.

I tried to keep the NSA project quite positive, and this is one of the only pieces that represents a slightly darker side of the human brain, but I really loved the bright green and punk rock aesthetic of the piece so I kept it in because visually, it can represent many things to many people, not just negative stuff.
