58 - Meditation
Meditation is sitting quietly to focus your mind, breathe deeply, and clear out stress or distractions, helping you feel calm, sharp, and more aware, like hitting a mental reset button. It started around 5,000 years ago in India with cave art showing people in yoga poses, then got big in Hindu Vedas (1500 BCE) for spiritual focus, spread through Buddhism around 500 BCE via the Buddha's teachings on mindfulness, and popped up separately in China (Taoism), early Christianity (Desert Fathers), and beyond. By the 20th century, it went global for health perks like better sleep and less anxiety, no religion needed.
With this collection, I mostly created whatever I felt like but I also wanted to make sure there was something for everyone. On a couple of occasions, I took a step back and had a look at the collection to see if anything was missing, and this piece was the result of that reflection. I wanted to include something a bit softer and more muted for people who were less drawn to the more striking and bold pieces from the rest of the collection.
The mint green and soft lavender are perfectly serene and calm colours. You can display this on it’s own or pair it beautifully with # 3 2 – Peace of Mind.
