Everything else, like other people, the world, or even your body, might just be a dream or invention of your brain, with no real proof otherwise. It comes from Latin words meaning "self alone," and thinkers like Descartes kicked it around in the 1600s by doubting everything except their own thoughts ("I think, therefore I am"), pushing extreme skepticism about reality. You can't step outside your head to verify anything external, so a solipsist says trust only your inner experience, making life feel super lonely but sparking deep questions about consciousness and what "real" even means.
