48 - Acid Trip

The term "acid trip" started in the 1950s from U.S. Army and CIA LSD experiments, where scientists used "trip" for the drug's mind-altering effects (like changed perception and deep thoughts), after Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann made LSD in 1938 and accidentally discovered its trips in 1943. It blew up in the 1960s hippie scene thanks to Timothy Leary's "turn on, tune in, drop out" mantra, Ken Kesey's Acid Tests, and festivals, turning clinical lingo into a symbol of free-spirited exploration in music, art, and anti-establishment vibes, even after 1967 bans pushed it underground. LSD offered benefits like boosted creativity, new ways of seeing reality, emotional breakthroughs, spiritual insights, and help with mental health issues such as anxiety or depression in controlled settings.
